Ski Holiday Skincare Essentials With Michele Goes Glossy

I have taken a break from recounting our post-ride travelling woes in this post. It is a collaboration with my wonderful friend Michele with her recommendations for ski holiday skincare essentials.

She writes a blog Michele Goes Glossy, a lifestyle blog with plenty of great advice on beauty, makeup and fashion.

I am really excited to have teamed up again with Michele for another blog collaboration. She is my fountain of information for skin care and makeup.

When Justin and I moved to Finland in November, we found ourselves in a very different climate. The weather was not only colder, but drier, too.
With the move, I also left the classroom behind and started a new job at the Ruka skiing resort. My new job at the resort’s Kids Club and teaching skiing meant spending most of the day outdoors exposed to the freezing temperatures and harsh winds.
With daily exposure to such different weather, my skin has felt tight and dry. Obviously, my skin care routine that worked fine in London needed updating.
I realised I had to do more to protect my skin from the cold, the wind and, now that the spring is fast approaching, the sun. So I reached out to Michele for advice and the idea of another blog collaboration was born.
With many people heading to snowy places (think Finland first when booking your next snow break) for their winter holidays, we hope you, too, find this advice helpful.
Read on to find out which products Michele would recommend to ensure your skin stays happy throughout the winter months.

FACIAL WASH – Lumene Nordic C Pure Glow Cleansing Balm

Lumene Nordic C Pure Glow Cleansing Balm is the facial wash you want to keep your face nourished. Lumene is a Finnish brand that Reija and I wrote about before. The enriched cleansing balm with wild arctic cloudberry seed oil is packed with antioxidants and vitamin C to boost skin’s natural glow. It takes off makeup in one go and at the same time leaves skin feeling comfortable after washing.

TONER – Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Liquid 150ml

Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Liquid is the most hydrating toner I ever tried, so I knew I had to include it in this “ski holiday skincare essentials”. The consistency is like rice water and from the moment it gets in contact with skin, it gives softness and elasticity. You can read more about it in the article below.

SERUM – Pixi Hydrating Milky Serum 30ml

Pixi Hydrating Milky Serum has rose flower extract, jojoba oil and aloe vera, perfect to leave skin supple, soothed and replenished. I have always liked serums with aloe vera, because aloe vera regenerates skin and helps to recover damaged skin.

EYE CREAM – CeraVe Eye Repair Cream 14ml

As an eye cream, I selected CeraVe Eye Repair Cream, because of its powerful ingredients such as ceramides, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. Ceramides and hyaluronic acid are natural components of our skin that help skin to look young and hydrated, unfortunately with time, we lose them. Niacinamide it’s a water soluble vitamin that strengthens skin. This eye cream gives a protective barrier whilst reducing puffiness and dark circles.

DAY CREAM – Skyn Iceland Arctic Repair Cream 250g

Skyn Iceland Artic Repair Cream has the best ingredients to keep moisture locked, making skin more resilient to extreme cold temperatures. The list of ingredients includes artic oils, artic algae and gooseberry extract contributing for a calming effect on skin and fortifying its natural defences.

Biotherm Cera Repair Barrier Cream, Available in 30ml, £25, and 50ml
As a lightweight cream, when compared to Skyn Iceland Artic Repair Cream, I chose Biotherm Cera Repair Barrier Cream. In my last article, I spoke about it and since I started to use this cream, I see my face more luminous and less reactive.

Sunscreen

Isdin Fotoprotector Extrem 90 Cream SPF50+ 50ml
Isdin is a sunscreen brand for sensitive skin that I started using when I moved to Spain. It’s the best sunscreen brand I have tried so far for sensitive skin. Isdin Fotoprotector Extrem 90 Cream SPF50+ is the right SPF to take with you on skiing holidays. It’s perfect to protect skin under extreme weather conditions where skin is highly vulnerable to UV rays.
Hello Sunday The Take Out One Stick – SPF30
If SPF creams don’t attract you, then you can opt for Hello Sunday The Take Out one Invisible Sun Stick SPF30. This is an easy way to apply and reapply SFP. Hello Sunday Stick gives a broad spectrum of SPF30, has hyaluronic acid and fatty oils to penetrate skin with all the essential vitamins to reinforce skin whilst protecting from the UV rays.

NIGHT CREAM – Lumene Nordic Hydra Hydration Recharge Overnight Cream 50ml

Despite the light consistency of Lumene Nordic Hydra Hydration Recharge Overnight Cream, this night cream is super rich in hydration. Empowered with artic ingredients that contain artic spring water, Nordic birch sap and Nordic oat pre and postbiotics, Lumene Overnight Cream restores skin’s balance and moisture levels.

LIP BALM – Bossy Glossy Lip Balm

The organic formula from Bossy Glossy Lip Balm repairs even the most cracked lips. Cocoa butter, coconut oil, vitamin E oil, calendula infused oil and beeswax are the complete composition of the natural Bossy Glossy Lip Balm.

BEST CREAMS FOR SPECIFIC SKIN CONDITIONS

EXTREME DRY SKIN – La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 Soothing Repairing Balm 40ml

For sensitive skin that gets easily damaged by UV rays, La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 Soothing Repairing Balm has a unique healing formula that deeply nourishes stripped skin. The provitamin B5, known also as panthenol, combined with shea butter provides a soothing effect on irritated skin, without feeling heavy. There is also a version of this balm with SPF.

SKIN PRONE TO REDNESS – Rosalique 3 in 1 Anti-Redness Miracle Formula SPF50 30g

When I was researching to find the best creams to protect skin in extreme weather conditions, I came across with Rosalique 3 in 1 Anti-Redness Miracle Formula SPF50, I asked myself why I didn’t try it before. The reviews are unanimous, stating that for skin prone to redness, this SPF moisturizer is the best to conceal and treat rosacea. However, I don’t have rosacea, my skin tends to get some redness and I always have to use a concealer to cover it. The special formula includes provitamin B5, urea, shea butter, zeolite (a volcanic mineral that naturally detoxes skin) and bisabolol (protects skin from free radical damage).

A huge thank you for Michele for these recommendations.
Recently, we also collaborated on Instagram when Michele invited me to be her guest on her Tuesday Live. She asked me to talk about womb cancer, and of course I had to take the opportunity to spread awareness.
